Naoya Inoue and Ramon Cardenas arrived in Las Vegas for their fight this Sunday, May 4 at the T-Mobile Arena.
After nearly four years of not fighting on U.S. soil, “Monster” Inoue arrived and was to the fore in Los Angeles, two weeks ago to apply the finishing touches to preparations for his bout.
The time change, altitude difference and other factors are things boxers have to take into consideration and account, when traveling to other countries to fight.
Inoue mused and enthused:
“It’s been four years since I’ve been here, so I’m very excited.
“I’m very aware of what the fans expect from me. And on Cinco de Mayo weekend, I plan to live up to those expectations.”
“(Cardenas) is a very complete fighter. He has a very good left. So, I don’t have time to be cautious.”
Cardenas who is counting his blessings proffered:
“I’m excited to be here. I’m blessed to be a part of this weekend, because we know it’s a historic week in boxing. And to be here, seeing my name on these billboards, is a blessing.”
“It means a lot to represent Mexico during this weekend because we have had legends and warriors fighting these weekends. I’m going to give it my all.
“This is a dream come true for me. I have to finish completing this dream. I’ve lost a guy on this trip. I’ve lost a coach on this journey. So to be able to fulfill my dream of becoming a world champion is my goal.
“I have nothing to lose and everything to gain. I have no pressure on me, so I’m going to go out there and give the fans a great show.
“I’m not here for the money. I’m here for the legacy. That’s what counts. If I become world champion, no one can take that away from me.”
