WBC super flyweight world champion Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez already has an opponent for his next fight.
Phumelela Cafu, the current WBO champion, will be the American’s next opponent on July 19th at The Stars Ford Center, Frisco, Texas.
In this fight, the WBC and WBO super flyweight belts will be at stake. The winner of this fight could come close to becoming the undisputed champion.
The remaining belts to become the absolute king of the 115-pound division are the one currently held by Argentine Fernando Martinez, the WBA belt, and the vacant IBF belt.
This will be Rodriguez’s second title defense in his second stint as champion. He won the belt in 2022 by defeating Carlos Cuadras by unanimous decision, and in 2024, he won the crown by defeating Francisco “Gallo” Estrada. Jesse “Bam” Rodriguez has an undefeated record of 21 wins, 14 of them by knockout.
Cafu won his belt last year with a split decision victory over Kosei Tanaka. This will be his first title defense. Phumelela Cafu holds a record of 11-0-3 with 8 KOs.
