The highly anticipated WBC Women’s Summit 2025 kicked off in a grand opening ceremony at the Orleans Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Welcoming the champions and attendees were WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán; WBC Cares leaders Jill Diamond and Christiane Manzur; WBC Women’s Committee President Malte Muller; and legendary champions Laila Ali and Christy Martin.
All agreed that women’s boxing is experiencing a great moment and that hard work has been done to develop this discipline, which is increasingly popular among young people.
Dr. Margaret Goodman gave an important talk about the WBC-VADA Clean Boxing Program. Its main objective, aside from testing competitors, is to educate our boxers about the dangers and disadvantages that doping can cause, as well as the penalties for testing positive for prohibited substances, in or out of competition.
Dr. Paul Wallace, who heads the World Boxing Council’s Medical Advisory Board, also gave an interesting presentation on medical issues in women’s boxing.
During the event, which will take place on April 2 and 3, highly relevant topics will be addressed, such as doping in women’s boxing, the financial management of female boxers, focusing on savings and retirement planning, among many other topics.
